My PhD
proposal was accepted in January 1998, under
the title of "The planning, design and
reception of British Home Front propaganda posters
of the Second World War". This is building
upon my undergraduate
project on the same topic.

I have visited many archives
in the process of this project, and a lot of
work has been put into a database, and you can
find information on digitisation.
In the early months of 1998,
a questionnaire
was circulated to those who remembered something
about the posters from the war, and if you fall
into this category please contact
me with any memories, if you don't, please
enjoy some of the quotes!

On 25th June 2004, "Rebecca Lewis
successfully negotiated her PhD viva for
her thesis entitled The planning, design and reception
of British home front propaganda posters of the Second
World War. The thesis was described by the examiners,
Lord Asa Briggs and Dr Adrian Smith, as excellent, with
no corrections. The supervisory team was Dr Martin Polley
(Southampton University, formerly of University College
Winchester) and Professor Joyce Goodman." |
