A major part of the project is a database
filled with poster images. There are various issues involved with,
for instance, scanning and retrieving images, particularly working
within the restrictions of a business application database, in
this case Access 97.
- Arts
and Humanities Data Service (AHDS)
The AHDS is an executive organisation that works within the
UK to collect, preserve and promote the electronic resources
which result from research and teaching in the arts and humanities.
It encourages research and educational use of its collections
and makes information about them available through online catalogues.
It seeks to identify and promote shared standards, both online
and through training courses, in order to facilitiate the exchange
of digital information. It consists of:

Advisory Service for Images (TASI)
TASI is a service that has been set up to provide advice and
guidance to the Further and Higher Education community on the
issues of creating, delivering and using digital images together
with managing digitisation projects.

Association for History and Computing (AHC)
Formed in 1986, the Association for History and Computing is
an international organisation which aims to promote and develop
interest in the use of computers in all types of historical
study at every level, in both teaching and research.
- New
Opportunities Fund: Technical Advisory Service
The nof-digitise Technical Standards and Guidelines set out
how digitisation should be undertaken in NOF funded projects.
These are intended to provide guidance rather than the only
solution to issues.
- ALG:
Australian Digitisation Projects
A service that aims to record and make accessible information
about digitisation projects undertaken by Australian cultural
organisations.It promotes and supports those working on digitisation
projects, particularly the sharing of expertise.
- Queen's
University: Centre for Data Digitisation and Analysis (CDDA)
CDDA is a paid for service that specialises in large-scale data
capture from printed sources and offers a comprehensive digitisation
service. This includes capture of material, including image
scanning, quality assurance, data post-processing and data delivery
to user requirements. They are happy to be part of collborative
grant applications.

Lothian Museums: Digitisation Projects
The East Lothian Museums Service makes its collections available
more widely through the use of digital media.
- UKOLN (University of
Bath)
A centre of expertise in digital information management, providing
advice and services to the library, information, education and
cultural heritage communities.
